I have written scientific, education and lay materials in areas such as joint and tissue biomechanics, osteoarthritis, pain and discomfort, and human anthropometry, biomedical instrumentation and medical imaging techniques. These opportunities provided me with the ability to effectively communicate scientific information to a wide variety of audiences.
As a successful academic at a world-class institution, I have 5 years of experience in writing and securing grants in the health sciences. Programs in which I have secured funding include the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, AUTO21-NCE and the Centre for Research Expertise in Musculoskeletal Disorders.
Ten years of experience teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels has required that I adapt my communication strategies in how I help students learn based on their level of education. I further enhanced this skill through interactions with the media including television and radio interviews and written articles for lay audiences.
